DESCRIPTION:Join the Ladysmith Maritime Society as we celebrate the beginning of boating season with Ladysmith Yacht Club’s SAILPAST\, and get ready for a fun day at Transfer Beach! \nThere’ll be activities and entertainment for everyone\, with a flotilla of boats\, face paining\, food trucks\, an artisan market\, information booths and live music. The Copper Canyon Band will begin the day with music starting at 10:30am. \nVisit our table to learn more about our society\, our history\, and all the events we provide throughout the spring and summer. See photos of the restoration of our heritage vessels\, the Dorothy\, the Rainbow Skiff\, the Saravan and the Kirkegaard. Then watch our beautiful vessels as they hit the high seas! \nOpening ceremonies begin at 11:00am with representatives from the government\, the Royal Canadian Maritime Search and Rescue Service (RCMSAR)\, the Canadian Coast Guard\, the Rowing Club\, and various other yacht clubs on the island.

DESCRIPTION:Join us for a fun day at the Telegraph Harbour Marina on Thetis Island! \nIn collaboration with Thetis Island Nature Conservancy (ThINC) and Telegraph Harbour Marina\, we’re excited to officially launch the new home of the Ladysmith Maritime Society Sea Life Centre at Telegraph Harbour Marina. \nThe day will be fun for the whole family\, with a “Seaquarium” for curious kids and adults alike\, sea life education\, marine life demonstrations\, face painting\, and more. \nWe are honoured to have Andy Lamb join us on this special day. Andy is a marine naturalist\, educator\, and author of three books about Pacific Northwest sea life. He has worked as both Chief Collector and Education Coordinator at the Vancouver Aquarium\, and as a fish culturist with Fisheries and Oceans Canada. He is also an avid scuba diver who has been on thousands of dives over the last fifty years. In 2017 he was appointed to the Royal Canadian Geographical Society’s College of Fellows.
