A petition is being launched in support of Ladysmith Maritime Society’s continuing operation of Ladysmith Community Marina. In an email to members of the Ladysmith Maritime Society, Richard Wiefelspuett, Executive Director wrote:
“You will be aware of the current uncertainty surrounding the future of the Ladysmith Community Marina in connection with the intended water lot lease transfer from the Town of Ladysmith to the Stz’uminus First Nation. A community group called the “Friends of the Ladysmith Community Marina” has formed in support of a continued operation of the Community Marina under the management of the Ladysmith Maritime Society. To this effect, the “Friends of the Ladysmith Community Marina” will launch a petition on Saturday, 27 May 2023. With this message we forward the invitation for the launch and related information received from the “Friends”.
Here’s a link to the Petition Information. The launch will take place in front of MLA Doug Routley’s Ladysmith office at 16 High Street, Ladysmith, BC.
Hard copies for in-person signatures will be available at the Ladysmith Forest Festival on 27 May 2023 and the Heritage Boat Festival on 28 May 2023 at the Ladysmith Community Marina and following this, at the Ladysmith Community Marina’s Welcome Centre.
After the 28th May, we will post the petition online for anyone unable to attend the launch.
