Events and Facilities

Welcome to the Ladysmith Community Marina, a unique waterfront experience of heritage and hospitality. We are located in Ladysmith Harbour, on Vancouver Island, BC in the heart of the Gulf Islands. As you enter the harbour, we are the first marina on your port side. The marina is conveniently located; just a 10-minute walk gets you to either Transfer Beach (swimming, kids’ water park, kayak and paddleboard rentals) or shops in downtown Ladysmith. If you need to connect further afield, the Nanaimo airport is an 11-minute drive from the Marina.

Enjoy the many amenities at the Welcome Centre including the Marina Office, lounge with a big screen TV, washrooms, showers, laundry facilities, pump out and free wifi. Enjoy culinary delights, during the summer months, at the Oyster Bay Café (open seasonally). Explore our Maritime Museum and vessels, visit the Harbour Heritage Centre, take in underwater action at the Sea Life Centre, learn about our working waters with a guided tour of Ladysmith Harbour, or simply relax, take in the coming and going of boats and soak up the peaceful waterfront ambiance.

Our Paddling Centre offers launch access to the harbour for anyone with a canoe, kayak or paddle board. And when you’re not out on your water vessel, you can safely store it at the Centre for a low quarterly fee.  The Paddling Centre is located on C dock where you can safely paddle out to open water.

Once in Ladysmith, take the highway exit marked Transfer Beach towards the waterfront (Roberts Street becomes Transfer Beach Blvd on the water side of the highway). Turn left just after the railway tracks onto the gravel road, which is Oyster Bay Drive. Continue approximately 300 meters until you see the large blue building; affectionately referred to by the locals as the “Expo Building” or “Machine Shop.” Watch for signs pointing you to the Marina and Oyster Bay Café. Space is extremely limited in the lower parking lot but you are welcome to tackle the two hairpin turns to the shoreline or park on Oyster Bay Drive and walk the stairs to the lower parking lot and Marina access ramp. If you have physical limitations and cannot find parking below, please call 250-245-1146 (press 2) and one of our friendly staff will meet you at the top of the stairs with a shuttle!

We do NOT have a boat launch here. Please continue to the government wharf on Ludlow Road for that type of water access.

We are proudly a non-profit marina, operated by the Ladysmith Maritime Society since 1985. Our volunteers work hard to make this marina a “must-go-to” destination, and visitors tell us that we are one of the friendliest marina on the west coast.

Recently reviewed and re-certified in November 2018 as a 3-anchor Clean Marina under the Georgia Strait Alliance’s (GSA) program for environmental best practices (that’s 3 out of 5). The designation recognizes industry leading marinas, harbour authorities, yacht clubs and boat yards that meet GSA’s rigid environmental standards.
