Harbour Tours
Harbour tours aboard the Maritimer
The Ladysmith Maritime Society is pleased to offer harbour tours during the summer months in our restored lifeboat, the Maritimer.

Over the past few years, thousands of people have enjoyed a two-hour cruise through the area's history, viewing eagles, seals, cormorants, starfish, jellyfish and other wildlife along the way.

We would appreciate a donation to the society when you ride with us, as our cost to provide this service are significant. The usual donation is about $10 for each adult and $5 for kids. Your friendly skipper will be happy to accept your donations on board the boat.

Tour Schedule:
July and August: Daily at 10:30 am and 2:00 pm.
September:        Tours in September are upon request.
To make a reservation, call 250-245-0109 or leave a message in the Tours mailbox at that number. You should call a minimum of 24 hours before your trip. Our skipper will call you back to confirm your reservation.

If you don't have a reservation, just come down to the dock and sign up for a tour. If it's full, sign up on the standby section and you may get on if space becomes available.

While you're waiting, why not have a look at our award-winning floating museum, take the kids to the kids' marine life viewing dock by the kids don't float lifejacket loaning area or peek into a purple martin nest using the webcam on the second blue boathouse.

We hope you enjoy your tour.

Comments from our participants

  • Thank you so much for your wonderful harbour tour. Our guide was excellent! We enjoyed it very much. The restaurant was first rate. We are locals and it was a great way to see a part of our hometown we've never experienced before. We'll be telling all our friends to make sure to sign up.
How to find us from Ladysmith

You'll find us by turning toward the waterfront onto Transfer Beach Road where Roberts Street intersects with the Island Highway. Follow Transfer Beach Road, cross the tracks and then turn left at the gravel road - watch for signs. You can park at the top of the hill above the marina or, space permitting, in the lot at the bottom.
