Ladysmith Maritime Museum

Museum slide-show will appear here...
Ladysmith has a proud and interesting maritime history, and the Ladysmith Maritime Society is committed to capturing and sharing that history with our community.

When the Ladysmith Maritime Society was established in 1985, one of its stated goals was to build a maritime museum. Today that dream is becoming a reality. In fact, in 2008, we became an award-winning museum! We are very proud of the work our volunteer curator, Shirley and her helpers have done for our town.

If you visit our docks you will see two large blue boat sheds near the ramp. The outer shed houses two of our restored heritage boats, the Saravan and the C.A. Kirkegard. The other is our floating museum. You'll find interesting displays and local people who can explain them.

We are a non-profit society, committed to preserving, promoting and perpetuating Ladysmith's rich maritime heritage. A representative of our society sits on the Town of Ladysmith's Museum Committee and we are a member in good standing of the British Columbia Museum Association. Revenues from our community marina are used to fund the museum.

We welcome donations in support of our work if you choose to make one.
