Disabled sailors

Disabled sailing slide-show will appear here...
Ladysmith Maritime Society is proud to host Cowichan Idependant Living diabled sailing program at our docks.

As a not-for-profit, community-based marina, we are happy to offer space and support to people in our communities who live with disabilities.

Recreation Integration Cowichan offers lessons to disabled kids and adults who want to hone their racing skills, learn to sail, or simply experience the joy of sailing. Among their boats are two Martin 16s and an Access Liberty - good choices for novice and expert alike.

Donate your boat. If you have a boat you no longer use, perhaps you would consider donating it to the Cowichan Independant Living. You'll get a 100% tax receipt as well as the pleasure of contributing to your community.

Volunteer. Cowichan Independant Living, like the Ladysmith Maritime Society, welcomes volunteers. If you have a few hours, some sailing or power boat skills, or would like to help on the docks or with administrative tasks or equipment maintenance, please call Cowichan Independant Living at 250 746-3930

Contact Cowichan Independant Living. Want more information about volunteering, donating a boat, or summer sailing schedules? Please call (250) 746-3930. You can also visit or write to the Cowichan Independant Living at 321 Coronation Avenue, Duncan B.C.  V9L 2T1 or log on to: www.cvilrc.bc.ca.

Here is a note we received from Cowichan Independant Living regarding the disabled sailing program:

August 26, 2009

Dear Ladysmith Maritime Society

Thank you for your continued support of our Adaptive Recreation program. Without your generosity, our sailing program could not run. We really appreciate all that you do and always feel welcomed on your docks. All of our sailing participants extend a thank-you to you, you can tell by the smiles on their faces at the end of a session.

Sincerely,

Emma and Kyla
Adaptive Recreation Cowichan Coordinators
